Are you coming up on the anniversary of a loved one’s death? If so, you might be starting to feel a little bit sad about the situation. But in reality, you should be preparing to celebrate the life that your loved one left behind. Regardless of whether they just made their way through one of the McCaysville, NC funeral homes a year ago or have been gone for 10 years, you can find ways to celebrate them on their anniversary instead of being sad. Check out 5 ways you can do it below.

Take a trip to their gravesite and decorate it.

The easiest way to celebrate the anniversary of your loved one’s death is by visiting their gravesite. Even if you visit it regularly, you should still make it a point to go there on their anniversary. And before going, you should head down to your local nursery and pick up flower and other decorations for the gravesite. You should make the site feel as festive as possible as you celebrate the life of someone special.

Sit down and write a letter to them.

There are a lot of people who wish they could talk to their loved one just one more time simply so that they could tell them about some of the things they’ve missed. If you wish you could do it, what’s stopping you? You may not be able to talk to your loved one in the physical form, but you can write a letter to them and let them know what you’ve been up to. You can even bring it to their gravesite and read it to them if you want.

Write a social media post for them.

Many people have started to pay tribute to their deceased friends and family members by writing social media posts for them. They’ll put together a long message for them on Facebook or Instagram and include a photo of their loved one. By sharing your thoughts on your loved one with the world, you’ll let everyone know how special they were. You’ll also find that you’ll feel better once your post goes up.

Put together a collection of old photos of them.

Do you have a bunch of old photos of your loved one thrown into a box somewhere? Rather than keeping them there, take them out and put together a photo collection that you can look at whenever you want. You’ll have a great time reminiscing on the photos as you assemble them, and you’ll no doubt share stories about a lot of them with your other family members in the process.

Set up a special prayer ceremony for them.

When is the last time you and your family got together to prayer for your loved one? If the last time you did it was during their funeral in McCaysville, NC, you should try to change that immediately. Take the initiative to schedule a special prayer ceremony for them, either at your home or in another location. You and your family will be able to support one another through the anniversary of your loved one’s death during this ceremony.
